One Badass Mama

“When I was pregnant with my (now 8mo) son, I found out I had a phyllodes tumor (fast growing tumor) in my left breast. I had a lumpectomy in December (when he was a month old). The pathology results came back and it was malignant, so ultimately I had a mastectomy in January (he was 2mo).
I was determined I was going to nurse my son despite all odds and all adversity (and there was a lot). It was tough. Extremely tough. But we persevered and now we are more than thriving. You should see this fat baby 🙂
So, I think all breast feeders are bad ass. But I consider myself an ultimate badass.”

This was the note that I received from this mama prior to scheduling her portraits. Reading it, I got chills. Who wouldn’t? Personally I struggled with breastfeeding all three of my children. It was a challenge for me, and I am in AWE of her accomplishment. The other moms call her “an inspiration” and I think we all concur, she is definitely a breastfeeding badass. I am truly honored to have captured these images for her, and I’m so happy with how they turned out.

Glowing. Beautiful. Inspirational. Powerful. BADASS.

You rock, Mama.
